Our Camps
Intro to CAD and Laser Cutting
June 9-13, 2025
In this exciting one week course, students will learn the basics of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and how to use a laser cutter. Designed to be an introductory experience, we will progress through a series of project ideas designed to take students from basic ideas to more complicated projects. Campers will also have the opportunity to participate in design challenges to stimulate the engineering mindset.
Robotics with Lego
June 2-6, 2025
IThis camp is fun and fast-paced with plenty of opportunity to explore and innovate. From the basics of block-based programming to beating other teams in head to head competitions, this camp is perfect for young innovators. We will start the week with the basics of block coding and simple robots. As the week progresses, new challenges will be revealed that will require innovative ideas and new robots.
CAD and Laser Cutting Camp
CAD
June 9-13, 2025 9AM to 1PM
North Boulder
What could be more rewarding than seeing your ideas come to life in real time! Each day in the CAD and Laser Cutting course students will work on creative designs that start out basic and add complexity as the week progresses. We will use Tinkercad as our software program. While quite basic and intuitive, Tinkercad is an excellent starting place for CAD design as many of the techniques can translate to more powerful CAD programs such as Fusion 360.
Our laser cutter is a Glowforge Pro with a powerful laser and a large platform. We will work with a variety of materials such as cardboard, MDF, plywood and acrylic. Laser cutting is a quick way to prototype ideas as most cuts take only minutes to complete. Students will learn how to adjust settings to create their desired cuts.
This course is aimed for complete beginners to computer design, though basic computer skills will be necessary such as navigating a web-based program, using login IDs and passwords, and understanding how to control-click. Campers will need to bring their own computer.
All supplies are included, and students will bring home their creations to share with their family.
Cost: $400. Save $100 by registering for both camps!
Location: Watershed School, North Boulder. Please DO NOT contact the school for information. While we have a great relationship with Watershed, Colorado STEM Camps is a separate organization.
Robotics with Lego
Robotics
June 2-6, 2025 9AM to 1 PM North Boulder
Get ready for an exciting adventure into the world of robotics at our LEGO Robotics Camp! Over the course of one action-packed week, middle school students will have the chance to build and program their very own LEGO robots. With the help of experienced instructor, students will dive into the world of engineering and coding as they work in teams to solve real-world challenges. From constructing custom robots to programming them to complete specific tasks, each day is filled with hands-on activities that will ignite their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Students can look forward to designing robots that can navigate mazes, perform unique movements, and interact with their environment using sensors and motors. They'll learn valuable STEM concepts such as coding, teamwork, and design thinking, all while having a blast. By the end of the week, students will not only have a fully functional robot they created themselves, but also the confidence and excitement to continue exploring the world of technology. Whether they're new to robotics or looking to take their skills to the next level, this camp is the perfect opportunity to discover the thrill of innovation!
